Types of ads in CMS4media

Ads are often the main source of revenue for an online portal. CMS4media offers various types of ads, from classic banners and contextual ads to video and audio formats, allowing publishers to manage space on the website flexibly.

Advertising banners

This is the most popular type of advertising. On portals running on CMS4media, banners can be added in JPG, PNG, GIF and HTML5 formats. The maximum dimensions depend on the place where the banner is displayed.

Where can advertising banners be displayed?

  • Top Banner – in the main part of the website, above the header
  • Main Banner A – below the information bar
  • ASUB Banner – below the main banner
  • Banner E – above the portal footer
  • Banner D – in the article:
    • Below the title
    • Below the introduction (lead)
    • After the first paragraph of the content
    • After the second paragraph of the content
    • After the third paragraph of the content
    • After the entire article content
  • Banners B and C placed anywhere on the page as widgets
  • Banner C between entries on lists (e.g. on the article list, event list, etc.) - learn more.

Website background

Website background surrounds the main content of the site, filling its side margins and the upper part of the screen.

The ad is very clearly visible and immediately attracts the attention of portal users, but it does not cover the published articles. Thanks to this, the publisher can offer business partners a highly visible, large advertising space without compromising readers' browsing comfort.

Top Layer (Pop-up)

Top Layer is displayed directly on top of the page and temporarily covers the main content of the site. Thanks to this, it perfectly focuses the portal user's attention on itself. On the other hand, overusing this format may make using the site cumbersome, which is why it is worth setting limits regarding the ad display. In CMS 4media you can decide:

  • when the ad will be displayed - e.g. immediately after entering the page, after a specified number of seconds, or after scrolling halfway down the page,
  • after how many seconds the ad will disappear
  • after how many days, hours or minutes the user will see the ad again.

Video ad before video content

This is an ad displayed before editorial video content, highly engaging and visible to users. To make sure it is not too irritating for viewers, it is a good idea to set the number of seconds after which it can be skipped.

In CMS 4media, the available video ad formats are:

  • in MP4 format
  • generated by VAST code

Audio ad before audio content

The publisher has two formats to choose from when adding an audio ad:

  • MP3
  • VAST code

Like a video ad, it is played before editorial content and can be skipped after a few seconds.

Contextual advertising

Contextual advertising is displayed when a specific keyword appears in the article content. The thematic match makes the campaign more effective.

Ads generated by code added in the <HEAD> / <BODY> section

In addition to standard advertising formats, the publisher of a portal running on CMS 4media can add external HTML code that triggers ads directly in the page code.

The code in the <HEAD> section will be added just before its closing tag and, depending on needs, may be active:

  • throughout the entire portal
  • only on the homepage
  • on all pages except the homepage
  • on all pages (including the homepage) except pages with articles marked as sponsored.

In the case of code in the <BODY> section, the publisher can decide whether the code will appear:

  • immediately after opening the <BODY> section
  • immediately before its closing tag.
  • below the article content;
  • below the related articles section.
